May 16th – San Marcos, TX Local Event

River Bassin’s first event in the great State of Texas right on the San Marcos River, in San Marcos, Texas with 26 anglers coming out.  With over 560 inches of bass measured and released this event did not disappoint.

Located at 402 Pecan Park Drive, in San Marcos, T G Canoes & Kayaks was our host dealer for this local stop. T G sells, rents and repairs both canoes and kayaks and have been serving Texas for over 26 years!

11255692_10155541625170150_639437943_oKyle Lehnick of San Marcos took 1st place with 55.25 inches by using weightless wacky rigged senkos until he ran out of circle hooks and switched to a weightless Texas rig which caught him a 19.75 inch fish to seal the deal.  By fishing the San Marcos and Blanco River, Tyler Howell used a ½ ounce War Eagle spinnerbait in white/chartreuse and a Booyah popping frog to catch 52.75 inches to capture 2nd Place.  Rounding out the top 3, Chase Palmer came in 3rd with 51 inches.

11089101_10155541625150150_261857482_oThe team, “The Jackson Two” of Andre Tyler and Jason Griffith with 77.75 inches were able to capture 1st place in the Team Division. Jason primarily used a combo of Texas and Wacky Rigged plastics to catch his fish, while Andre used a 4 inch Berkely Chigger Craw to catch his fish.  Chris Fowler and Eric Porter of team “Krӧtejӓgers” ended the day with 62.75 inches by using Texas rigged watermelon red flake Zoom lizards.  Team “Tkjftw” of Chase Palmer came in with  51 inches for 3rd place.

Tyler Howell caught this 22 inch behemoth the Big Bass of the Event.
