Film Festival

 

Keep the cameras rolling and start making those kayak fishing films because the best film entered into the festival will be awarded a Go Pro HD Hero camera!


Entry Qualifications


  1. Sending an entry to the River Bassin’ Film Festival implies acceptance of the Rules and Regulations.
  2. Entries can be of any duration. However, shorter films are preferred (4 to 10 minutes). Films longer than 15 minutes must be accompanied by a shorter ‘Tour’ version.
  3. Films can be a narrative, story, or a trailer and can be entered by professional or amateur filmmakers.
  4. Screening fees will not be paid for film screenings during the Festival or any ‘Tour.’
  5.  All music rights must be cleared before films are submitted. Consent of performers and/or person appearing in the film must be obtained before films are submitted.
  6. Films may have been previously entered in other film festivals.
  7. Entrants grant the festival organizers permission to use excerpts, not exceeding three minutes, for promotional purposes in various media, trade shows and retail stores.
  8. Entrants are required to supply promotional materials, such as still images, for the purpose of promoting the film, Festival and/or Tour.
  9. Entrants grant the festival organizers the right to make festival versions of films longer than 15 minutes.
  10. Entrants grant the festival organizers the right to copy the entry in part or in its entirety in any media format to facilitate the operation or promotion of the festival and/or tour.
  11. The entrant acknowledges and agrees that all matters not covered by these rules and regulations, and questions arising from them, will be decided at the sole discretion of the Festival organizers.

Selection Process


1. Prizes will be awarded for the best overall film.

  • Winner receives a GoPro HD Hero camera
  • Second place receives RAM kayak fishing accessories
  • Third place receives some nifty kayak fishing swag

2. All entries will be viewed prior to the festival by a pre-selected committee from a variety of kayak fishing backgrounds to some members that have no kayak fishing experience.

3. Finalists may be the only films screened at the Festival.

Deadline for Entries


1. September 2nd. If you film is not ready by this date then please contact the Festival Director as soon as possible.
2. Winners will be notified during the finale festival weekend at Roanoke, VA on September 10, 2011.


Technical Requirements


  1. There are three ways to provide films:
    1. On DVD in NTSC format, provide they are non-professionally authored and not copy protected. Shipping address below.
    2. Uploaded to our FTP site. Provided in QuickTime format that is DV-NSTC, DV, or Uncompressed 4:2:2 codec encoded. Please contact the Festival Director for FTP information.
    3. Uploaded to the following YouSendIt dropbox (2gb max) https://dropbox.yousendit.com/riverbassin provided in QuickTime format that is DV-NSTC, DV, or Uncompressed 4:2:2 codec encoded. Please contact the Festival Director for FTP information.
  2. Please contanct the Festival Director regarding other formats for approval.
  3. All entries will be retained by the Festival.

Delivery


  1. Receipt of entries will not be acknowledged.
  2. Films will not be returned.
  3. DO NOT send originals.
  4. Please clearly label all DVDs.
